Beekeeping - Business - With - Govt. Support : (Loan/Subsidy)

Beekeeping (or apiculture) is the maintenance of bee colonies, commonly in man-made hives, by humans. If you are really interested in starting of this business or looking some information regarding this then this article is for you.

Advantages of Beekeeping:

  1. Beekeeping requires low investments due to which farmers, along with agriculture also do beekeeping to generate additional income.

  2. It also helps in cross-pollination as pollens are transferred from one flower to another by the bees while collecting nectar.

The Government Support and overview

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) : One of the main objective of the KVIC is enforce nationally acceptable standards of Good Beekeeping Practices (GPB) in the country.

* KVIC will conduct 12 one day awareness program as per the need in the state.


Contribution of Beneficiary and KVIC :

  1. 10 bee hives and bee colonies will be provided to each beneficiary.

  2. Non-Eastern Zone : The own contribution is to be collected 20% from the beneficiary in NON-NEZ on the cost of bee hives and bee colonies. For example, If cost of one bee hive with colony is Rs. 4500/, the 20% own contribution will be Rs. 900/- per bee hive with colony and for 10 bee hives with colony it will be Rs.9,000/.

  3. North Eastern Zone : The own contribution is to be collected 10% from General candidates only in NEZ on the cost of bee hives and bee colonies. For example, If cost of one bee hive with colony is Rs. 3,500/-, the 10% own contribution will be Rs. 350/- per bee hive with colony and for 10 bee hives with colony it will be Rs.3,500/-

* The Beneficiary's will be selected based on the trained candidates in the previous years by the respective SBEC(State Bee keeping & Extension Center) or any other Govt. body/Beekeeping NGO may be selected.


Monthly Earnings :

As per the market analysis if you manufacture 800 KG of honey which cost anywhere between 140/- to 150/- rupees. This will bring you 1.16 lakh monthly sales and we can deduct 40/- to 50/- rupees per kg as variable expenses which is 36000/-. Finally we can expect 80k as monthly profit.
